Outreach is an ‘umbrella’ term for a style of work literally meaning ‘reaching out’ to where people are at. It does not wait for people to seek help once they see themselves as having a drug/health problem, but seeks them out with the aim of providing education and services directly in the community.
Alternatives Outreach offer:
- Street work to encourage clients into services and to raise awareness of services available,
- Home visits,
- Satellite bases for drop in clients, parents and members of the community affected by drugs.
- Consultation with the local community
