Developing skills in upcycling

Next to the horticulture operation at Knowetop, we plan to install some ex-shipping containers as the work base for an upcycling operation, run by a professional artist and offering training opportunities for Alternatives clients.

This will focus on turning society’s ‘rubbish’ into useful objects and works of art.  We will focus on metalwork, woodwork and the use of fabrics initially, with the necessary equipment to let clients’ creativity blossom. A couple of times per year, we propose to have a grand sale of the articles produced, as well as ongoing sales  at the site through the year.

We shall also have an annual art exhibition, showcasing the metalwork sculpture, decorative fabric works and woodturning.
